The University of Iowa Department of Neurosurgery provides a unique environment oriented toward patient care and basic research concerning diseases and physiology of the nervous system.

The department’s clinical mission is growing and well-balanced. 

Faculty members within the department are outstanding, with internationally-recognized clinical leaders in the major subspecialties of neurosurgery.

Dedicated to educating the next generation of neurosurgeons, training is provided through a residency training program uniquely featuring integrated research and laboratory experience with a strong clinical aspect. 

The department also provides subspecialty training within the field of neurosurgery for post-residency applicants interested in complex spine procedures.
