Global Neurosurgery

Dr. Rebecca Reynolds, a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of Iowa, started work in Zambia during residency.  She works closely with healthcare providers in Zambia – including anesthesiologists, neurologists, and orthopedic surgeons – as well as collaborating physicians from UI Health Care to study the timing of myelomeningocele repair on outcomes. She has also worked to help develop infrastructure for more community teaching hospitals in areas of Zambia.

Doc Dash

The Doc Dash is an annual 5K race held by the Carver College of Medicine with all proceeds going toward the Iowa City Free Medical and Dental Clinic and the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic. You can read more about the race and its purpose here (please link: Doc Dash 5k). At times our passion for fitness and altruistic spirit align and we are able to get a team together to support the free clinics.
